Present, future and science fiction.

En medio de las múltiples coyunturas, la incertidumbre se hace latente y crece nuestro pesimismo. Es difícil pensar en el futuro cuando parece que ya no queda nada por hacer. Sin embargo, aquí seguimos, aferrándonos a cualquier indicio de esperanza. Necesitamos creer que hay alternativas y la ciencia ficción desde hace tiempo las imagina y nos propone posibles futuros desde productos de la cultura popular. Descentraliza la discusión del futuro como algo que está únicamente en manos del Estado y del Gobierno. Volcar nuestra mirada hacia otras prácticas que se sostienen en lo afectivo y el cuidado del otrx, humano o no-humano.

Amidst multiple conjunctures, uncertainty becomes latent, and our pessimism grows. It is hard to think about the future when it seems like there's nothing left to do. However, we are still here, holding onto any sign of hope. We need to believe that there are alternatives, and science fiction has been imagining and proposing possible futures for a long time through products of popular culture. It decentralizes the discussion of the future as something that is solely in the hands of the State and Government. We need to shift our focus towards other practices that are based on affection and care for others, whether they are human or non-human.
